Jimmy Buffet’s Escape to Margaritaville tour has set sail and is on its way to over 35 cities this year. The semi-autobiographical musical, following the story of a part-time bartender and singer who falls for a career-minded tourist, is headed to Buffalo, NY! You won’t want to miss this jukebox musical comedy featuring some of Jimmy Buffett’s greatest hits under the direction of Tony Award-winning producers.

Use our guide to prepare for the musical’s stop at Buffalo’s Shea’s Performing Arts Center.

1. Hop on the Metro Rail.

To avoid any parking stress or costs, park away from the theatre and hop on the Metro Rail. Buffalo’s Metro Rail operates seven days a week through Buffalo’s central business district. The rail starts at the University at Buffalo and ends at the Erie Canal Harbor Station downtown.

When hopping on, be sure to choose the boarding platform that reads “Inbound to Erie Canal Harbor” to head South toward downtown. Above ground, the Metro Rail is free, however if you board underground, a roundtrip ticket is $4.

2. Dine at one of Buffalo’s Theatre District restaurants.

Grab a bite or drink in Buffalo’s Theatre District, all within walking distance of Shea’s! Here are a couple of suggestions:

Bacchus Wine Bar & Restaurant
56 W Chippewa St., Buffalo, NY 14202

This fine-dining restaurant with a back patio serves delicious American small plates and entrees, as well as an extensive wine list.

Hearth + Press
665 Main St., Buffalo, NY 14203

Hearth + Press is located directly across from Shea’s, making finding your seat on time easy. They’re known for their authentic Mediterranean pizza cooked in a 1,000 degree Stone Hearth oven.

Bijou Grille
643 Main St., Buffalo, NY 14203

Located in the heart of the Theater District, Bijou has been serving theatergoers delicious Italian eats and beverages for years.

Fresh Catch and the Galley Lounge
500 Pearl St., Suite 107, Buffalo, NY 14202

Fresh Catch and the Galley Lounge is brand new to downtown and sits just around the corner from the Theater District. Enjoy their fresh seafood and local produce in one of their delicious poke bowls, as well as their custom cocktail menu.

3. Head over to Shea’s!

While the restaurants listed above are all within walking distance of the theatre, be sure to give yourself enough time to get there. You’ll want to arrive with plenty of time to get to your seats and settle in before the curtain rises.
