It can be difficult to find a travel destination that suits both adults and kids of varying ages. You don’t have to restrict your plans to theme parks, cruises and all-inclusive resorts when a city has all the dining, entertainment and hotel options you need to satisfy the whole gang. These three destinations offer a little something for everyone.

Asheville, NC

Nestled among the Appalachian Mountains, Asheville offers ample outdoor fun. It’s the perfect place to stay while your family enjoys day trips to the neighboring Blue Ridge Mountains and historic Biltmore Estate.

Biltmore Estate

The country home of George Vanderbilt was constructed in the late 1800s and the beautiful estate offers sprawling lawns and gardens to explore, as well as guided tours.

Blue Ridge Parkway

A short, scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway will lead you to Sliding Rock. This natural rock waterslide provides hours of fun for the whole family.

Emerald Village

In the summer months, you can search for gold at a historic mine in nearby Little Switzerland, NC. There’s also a mining museum and guided tours.

Buffalo, NY

This medium-sized city is bustling with family-friendly fun in all seasons. The downtown waterfront and ballpark offer affordable summer fun. The city’s rich history is evident through its museums, parks and architecture.

Buffalo Bisons

Buffalo is home to its share of major league sports teams but the minor league events offer an environment that is most conducive to family fun. The Buffalo Bisons (Minor League Baseball), Buffalo Bandits (National Lacrosse League) and Buffalo Beauts (National Women’s Hockey League) all provide excellent entertainment at a reasonable price.

Canalside

This waterfront destination is a must-see in any season. Canalside offers ice skating and curling during the winter months and a sandy play area, water sport rentals and numerous festivals during the warmer seasons. Children will enjoy hands-on fun and learning at the Explore and More Children’s Museum which recently opened a brand-new facility at Canalside.

Niagara Falls State Park

A short drive will bring you face-to-face with one of the natural wonders of the world, Niagara Falls. Countless activities and excursions take you behind, below and all around the Falls.

New Orleans, LA

Much more than a Mardi Gras destination, New Orleans is a great family vacation spot. Music, history, art, culture and cuisine collide in a temperate climate that offers year-round fun for the whole family.

Audubon Insectarium

Insects of every shape and size are on display at North America’s largest insect museum. Bring your camera to capture thousands of butterflies in flight.

Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World

Go behind the scenes of the annual pre-Lenten festival to experience a child-friendly version of Mardi Gras in the Lower Garden District. See the ornate floats and animated characters and costumes that fill the streets every February.

Storyland

Captain Hook, Pinocchio and more than a dozen other beloved characters come to life in City Park’s Storyland. The charming storybook themed playground is every child’s dream and a heartwarming walk down memory lane for the adults in your party.
