Over the past seven years, Rich Entertainment Group has played an integral role in the revitalization and maintenance of Buffalo’s two preeminent waterfront venues: Canalside and Outer Harbor. Recently, the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) announced that REG was awarded another seven-year management contract to continue delivering an exceptional experience for visitors to these iconic public spaces along the shores of Lake Erie and the mighty Niagara River.

“We’re grateful to the ECHDC Board of Directors and to Governor Kathy Hochul for their trust and confidence in our team to continue and enhance the quality programming and services we provide at two of Buffalo’s most iconic public spaces,” said Kevin Parkinson, vice president of finance and operations for Rich Entertainment Group. “We look forward to continuing to host the popular live music, family programming and engaging events that have made our city’s waterfront a destination for both residents and tourists.”

REG has managed the 200-acre greenspace known as Outer Harbor since 2016, and Canalside, the downtown waterfront destination named for its connection to the historic Erie Canal, since 2017. These venues offer access to water sports, fitness programming, cultural events, live music, concessions, festivals, and so much more. There is something for everyone to enjoy while experiencing the natural beauty of Buffalo.

As per the terms of the contract, REG will provide hospitality services; programming; food, beverage and merchandise; marketing/advertising; operations and maintenance; as well as management and staffing to both waterfront venues.

A second contract was also awarded to REG for facilities management services. This five-year contract, funded by the New York Power Authority, requires REG to provide all staffing, materials, fuels and supplies required for general operation and maintenance of the buildings and structures on the grounds of Canalside and Outer Harbor.

“We have successfully advanced the ECHDC Board and Governor’s mission of delivering first-rate visitor experiences that draw residents and tourists to our waterfront destinations,” said Joe Segarra, president of Rich Entertainment Group. “Thanks to Kevin Parkinson’s leadership and the enthusiasm and passion of his team, we will now have the privilege of providing those services for another seven years.”
